Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution 2020

Our signups for Thanksgiving turkeys are now open!

Due to COVID and the need to keep our clients and volunteers safe, this year we will be delivering turkeys directly to families in need.

We have a limited number of turkeys (with fixings as available). Signups are first come first served. If you know someone who might not be able to afford a Thanksgiving turkey this year please share this information and encourage them to sign up.

If you would like to help:

Unfortunately, due to safety concerns we are unable to accept individual donations of food items. However, monetary donations enable us to purchase bulk, discounted items so we can provide full Thanksgiving dinners to as many Westfield families as possible.

We are continuing to provide food through this crisis.

As of Friday, May 1, 2020, pantry based distribution at our 101 Meadow Street location remains suspended until further notice. However, we are still working to provide food through other methods.

If you are in need of food you may request a no-contact food delivery by clicking here. Spaces are limited and are first come first served.

  • In order to ensure that we can help as many families as possible, food drops will be limited to one per requester/household per month.
  • Food boxes will be pre-packed. While you may identify dietary restrictions or specific needs (e.g. infant food), please understand that we may be unable to customize food boxes.
  • A volunteer will leave the box outside your home during the specified window of time. We cannot guarantee a specific drop off time. In order to ensure we can complete our food drop please DO NOT approach our delivery volunteer.

Westfield residents in need may come to one of our drive through food pantries. Check our Facebook Page for the most up-to-date information on these events.

  • Usually held the third Saturday of the month in the Church of the Atonement parking lot at 36 Court Street.
  • Our drive-through food pantry provides pre-packed bags of food.
  • Anyone who is feeling unwell or has signs of illness is asked not to visit the drive through pantry; a family member, friend, neighbor or other support may pick up food on behalf of the client. We appreciate your understanding as we work to minimize potential exposure while ensuring that food assistance remains available to families in need.
  • Please practice social distancing and be patient as we try to help everyone. Please, to ensure we can continue to hold these events, DO NOT arrive at the distribution site prior to 5pm. You will not be allowed to enter the parking lot and cannot block traffic.

If you have an immediate need for food you can visit our Free Little Food Pantry outside the Church of the Atonement at 36 Court Street.

  • We have partnered to convert the Free Little Library outside the Church of the Atonement into a Free Little Food Pantry.
  • Anyone in need of food assistance may visit this pantry at any time. Please take what you need.
  • Please practice social distancing and wash or sanitize your hands before and after.
  • This pantry is cleaned and stocked by a volunteer. Please do not leave donations at this location.

Starting Monday May 4th Westfield residents in need can contact North Elm Butcher Block directly to receive a pantry bag! Bags will be available as long as there is money in the Pay It Forward Food Fund.

  • Pantry bags will include 1 lb. of deli ham, 1 lb. of American cheese, 1 lb. of ground beef, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, and bananas (items subject to change based on market availability).
  • To ensure all of our neighbors can benefit from this donation pantry bags are limited to one per month. Pantry bags are only available to Westfield residents.
  • Call, text, or email: nebb@yahoo.com, 413-562-6759 to receive your date and time of pick up. North Elm Butcher Block: 37 North Elm St, Westfield, MA 01085.
  • We have provided the initial money for the fund, but the program can't continue without your help. Customers of North Elm Butcher Block and the general public can add money to the Pay It Forward Food Fund by donating either directly to the North Elm Butcher Block or to the Westfield Food Pantry, earmarked for this program. Checks can be mailed to 101 Meadow St Westfield, MA 01085 or online donations can be made via our website

If you have a need or have questions please contact Rebecca Hart directly at director@westfieldfoodpantry.org

As of Saturday, March 21, 2020, The Westfield Food Pantry has made the very difficult decision to close distribution at our 101 Meadow Street location the week of March 23-27 due to growing concerns over client and volunteer safety.

During this time we will be assessing how we can continue to feed local families without jeopardizing the health and safety or our staff and volunteers, our vulnerable clients, or the community as a whole. We will also be closely monitoring the situation in Massachusetts and any further recommendations or directives from the Governor or public health officials. We will reassess the situation at the end of the week and make a decision for the following week.

While we can not safely continue open distribution at this time, we are committed to doing everything we can to help families access food during this crisis. During the week of March 23-27 we will be piloting a food drop program for households with an immediate need for food. If you are at risk of running out of food we want to work with you to arrange a no-contact food drop.

If you have a need or have questions please contact Rebecca Hart directly at director@westfieldfoodpantry.org

How can you help?

The coronavirus is known to be highly contagious. If you want to help we ask that you make a monetary donation to the Pantry rather than one of food due to the ease with which the virus is transmitted on objects.

Donations will help us to purchase additional discounted bulk food and cover the cost of expanded operations. Donations can be made online by clicking the "Donate Now" button or by mailing a check to Westfield Food Pantry, 101 Meadow Street, Westfield, MA 01085.

If you have questions please contact Rebecca Hart at director@westfieldfoodpantry.org.
